In Praise of Ankle Boots
The Ankle Boot is one of the great in-between items that no woman’s wardrobe should be without. More dynamic than a flat shoe, but more practical than a high heel or full knee boot, they’re a versatile all-season footwear choice that can be tailored to just about any outfit or occasion. Here are some of our favourites.
This Gianni Gregori is a classic heeled ankle boot in chic faux suede. The leather strap is a neat accessory that can be subtly matched to a belt if you’re a fan of stealth accessorising. If you’re worried that sheer black is a bit too jarring with a lighter outfit, balance out the look with a black jacket or coat. You could also embrace a monochrome look with black tights or women’s trousers and even a black women’s top if you really want to push the look. Just be sure you fall on the right side of the stylish/teenage Goth divide. It can be a thin line!
Now that the weather is heating up, there may well be days when you want to get your legs out and enjoy the sunshine. These Tamaris Ankle Boots are available in red or blue – as well as the traditional black – to effortlessly add a splash of colour to your outfit. Again, balance out the brightness with matching colours somewhere else on the ensemble. One failsafe look is a colourful women’s top worn with darker skinny jeans tucked into coloured ankle boots that match the top.
Another trend worth leaping on this season is cowboy-style. Now we’re not talking full-on Stetsons and Shania Twain, but a hint of the west can be achieved by wearing these City Walk Slouch Ankle Boots with denim jeans or a jacket. Casual wear doesn’t get much cooler this season – trust us!
