Trend Alert: Metallics
Fashion is having a bit of a futuristic moment this season, with the soft reflective sheen of metallic making a major comeback. This month alone we've seen Heidi Klum rocking the red carpet in a stunning silver two-piece while lady of the moment Rihanna was spotted looking uncharacteristically demure in a floor length metallic maxi dress.
The appeal of metallics to the stars isn't difficult to figure out. It's bold without being brash, looks great against almost any skin tone - although if you're very pale you might want to accessorise it with something in a warmer colour to avoid the ice maiden look - and lends itself beautifully to a bit of statement jewellery.
Although casual metallics can sometimes hit the mark, in general they're better suited to occasion wear. This Drape Satin Dress is a beautiful pewter shade with sparkling bust detail and sleeves that can be worn off the shoulder in a classic Hollywood style. The loose-fitting cut cascades beautifully over curvier figures too. Matching silver shoes and some sparkling earrings can turn this dress into a real 'Cinderella' moment. We just love it!
If you're looking for something a little more fun and flirty, this above-the-knee Satin Party Dress will really turn up the wattage! The petticoat detail underneath the skirt is a nice touch. A dress like this barely needs any adornments, so just throw on some killer heels and you're ready to hit the town.
Another dress with real 'wow' factor is this Ruffle Tier Formal Dress in silver. The boned bodice paired with a tiered skirt makes for a really distinctive combination, and the high cut is perfect for showing off your pins. It's also available in fiery red and classic black.
