How to Wear: Autumn Colours
So we’ve talked about the practical considerations of creating an autumn/winter wardrobe, and discussed some of the key trends to watch out for (below the knee, sixties chic). Now it’s time to take a look at the colours that are going to be big this season – and how to wear them of course!
From day dresses and evening dresses to footwear and accessories, effective colour co-ordination can allow you to make a bold fashion statement with almost any outfit. The main buzzword around the fashion industry this season is ‘boozy’. This is exactly what it sounds like – outfits in wine colours! In particular, red and burgundy are key trends this autumn. The great thing about burgundy is that it’s an understated, office-friendly colour that still stands out from the usual blacks and greys, and is also lively enough to look fabulous at a party or formal event. For a more dynamic appearance, a bright red is always guaranteed to stand out.
The Laura Scott Chiffon Cocktail Dress in Berry is a perfect example of a ‘boozy’ colour that will be a knockout on a special occasion. It can be worn as a halter neck or strapless, and it’s a great dress for showing off your legs in a pair of killer heels.
For a slightly more understated design, we recommend something like the Evening Knotted Dress, also in berry. The longer cut and sleeves make it suitable for day wear, but of course it can also be dressed up with some well-chosen accessories. The Arrival 2-in-1 Long Sleeve Top is a great way to add a splash of colour to an everyday outfit. Wear them over some jeans, perhaps with matching footwear such as Lotus Mid-Boots, or patent T-Bar Courts – both available in red.
Don’t forget that if you’re looking for a particular shade when shopping at Freemans, you can use the drop-down menu to only see items in that colour. You can also filter our catalogue by style, size, length, price or brand name, so have a look around. You never know what you might find!
