How To Wear: Print Tops and Dresses
Print is a great look that occasionally gets a bad reputation. For children of the 90s, the word brings to mind a combination of the garish leopard-print of Scary Spice and Coronation Street’s Bet Lynch, and the mumsy floral print of Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced Bouquet, naturally). However, when worn correctly a women’s top or ladies dress with a print design can capture a stunning carefree spring/summer style that’s dressy enough for the office but casual enough for a day in the sunshine.
The first rule of print is not to overdo it. In general, a women’s print top looks best when paired with a simple block colour on the legs, either some stylish ladies trousers or summery leggings. If you do want to wear more than one print item, make sure they’re a good contrast of colour and style to avoid the “Hyacinth effect”.
Needless to say, at Freemans we’ve got a fantastic selection of print tops and print dresses in our spring-summer collection. This Laura Scott Camisole Top features a bold and sensual floral print pattern and a low-cut scooped neckline perfect for summer days. Pair it with some jeans and heels, or dress down for a cooler day with a women’s jacket or cardigan.
A print dress like this new Vila Crinkle Chiffon Floral Tea number works beautifully as a standalone piece or over leggings if it’s not quite warm enough for bare legs yet. If you want to make a playful, stylish impression at a party or special occasion, this Polka Dot Print Wrap Dress is bang on trend. Take a cue from our model and pair it with some eye-catching heels to complete the look.
