I purchased this vacuum cleaner in February after reading mainly good reviews.
I have 3 dogs and was looking for a powerful vacuum cleaner for pet hair removal.
Was most pleased with the initial performance on carpet and hardwood floors but encountered problems with this cleaner tipping over when using hose and attachments and clogs/blocks easily.
Filters also need frequent cleaning, as do most cleaners
It is also very noisy and heavy.
Good suction if you can keep it upright.
I am now looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner to replace this one.

bought this for use downstairs, we have 2 kids, 2 cats and a dog, This Vax sucks all the hairs up but is very noisy and the dog hates it. it also tends to fall over when using the tools, but luckily dont need to use the tools that often. have not tried cleaning the stairs yet,

Was great when used the first two times then the auction significantly weakened, when you attach any tools its even worse.very big bulky and heavy on the upside a very long power cord.

I HAVE HAD A FEW VAX MACHINES OVER THE YEARS THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST,I LOVE THE LONG CORD,GREAT TO PLUG IN ONE SOCKET TO DO ALL MY DOWN STAIRS.LOVE THE POWER TO PICK UP THE CAT AND DOG HAIRS AND THE TURBO TOOL TOO,WHICH I USE ON THE SOFA AND CURTAINS WHERE MY CAT SITS IN THE WINDOW. THE HOSE IS EXTRA SPRINGY! SO REACH RIGHT UP TO THE TOP OF MY STAIRS NO PROBLEM. OVERALL VERY GOOD.

this is an excellent hoover for lifting the smallest of hairs, great for all rooms, and long cord lets you go from room to room with ease. A definate must for pet owners, we have 5 dogs and wouldn't be without it. It is a bit noise however it is worth putting up with a little bit of noise for the performance it gives. The attachments are great especially the pet hair one, cleans suite like new. Cleaning the cylinder is so easy, no more having to take the filter out of the middle and giving it a good shake to get rid of all the dust!! not a pleasurable job at the best of times, all gone thanks to the cyclonic clear cylinder just one click and the cylinder is empty and much easier to rinse out. Would definatley recommend.

This is my first Review on any Product and what a great first Product I'm Testing!
Being used to Dyson Vacuum Cleaners, which I bought mainly because of their constant Publicity, I have grown used to, and dreaded, the daily struggle trying to hoover up pet hairs around my house but then I was lucky enough to be asked to test the Vax Power 8 Vacuum and what a surprise I got, although rather noisy it does such a brilliant job that I'm willing to overlook this minor detail. An attractive Red and Silver in colour and it's accessories clipping neatly around the Machine for ease of use it also has a large capacity dirt containing cylinder that's really easy to empty and keep clean and a brilliant 10mtr cord that means I don't have to keep unplugging the Machine as I work my way around the house and the long Hose easily reaches Ceiling corners to get the odd cob-web and also from the top of the Stairs to the bottom with no pulling on the Machine. I have hard floors as well as Carpets and it's really easy to adjust the Machine between the two and the suction is unbelievable, it's not too heavy and glides and turns easily over surfaces.
I no longer dread the daily vacuum of pet hairs as Vax has solved my problem completely so thank you Vax for making my life easier, I would recommend this product 110%!!

With the old saying 'all I want for Xmas' I am glad I picked this model before Xmas just to clear any unwanted mess up. I have had Vax products before but this was a long time ago and to be honest it is now probably obsolete , hence a new model .
This product did not disappoint. Easy to assemble, easy to use and easy to store. It is lightweight, manoeuvres easily and with the 10mtr cable ( life saver ) and just over a 3mtr hose it covers the entire downstairs easily.
The motor is very powerful ( the only downside is the noise) but the suction from the vacuum is fantastic. It sounds like a jet engine taking off. I can live with that for the job it does.
Cleaning the stairs was so easy and it must be the first time in almost a year I have been left with 'no pet hair' on the carpet. This model is also ideal for hard floors and long pile carpets . It has an easily adjustable switch which controls the height of the brushes.
The cylinder is very accessible and cleaning was very easy and could be carried out one handed.
The instructions were clear and concise and the colour schemes on offer were great.
Would I recommend it to a friend – Yes I would and that not something I do every day. One of the benefiting factors in choosing this product was the fact it comes with a two year guarantee. If this model lives up to my old one I do not think I will need it.

Relatively easy to build,only thing that tripped me up was were to put the brush-bar holder. powerful suction even on the turbo brush used on stairs with stubborn pet hair.See through brush box a brilliant in-ovation means you can SEE why the cleaner isn't working INSTEAD of having to turn it over to find it's not snagged and that the bag is full.Of course with this cleaner you can see if the "bag" is full at a glance too because of the clear cylinder.Nice unassuming colour scheme means your vax isn't shouting look at me just to get attention.It does the job and then snuggles back into the corner until the parrots need doing again!Only down side is when using the tools you can pull the machine over easily but this may reduce as the hose becomes less rigid.Appears to be good build quality [...]Overall definitely worth the money
