Q&A with Fiorelli Jewellery
This week on the blog we’re pleased to bring you a question and answer session with Vicky Leyshon, head of design at leading accessories brand Fiorelli Jewellery. Read on and find out the story behind the design of this glamorous new range.
What first sparked your passion for designing fashion jewellery and accessories?
My passion for jewellery was first ignited by my love of the drama created by Greek Jeweller Ilias Lalaounis. I’m still in awe of his amazing classical statement pieces! Fashion Jewellery is a way of making your own style declaration as frequently as you like…without the high cost of fine jewellery.
Fiorelli’s new jewellery range looks gorgeous! Can you tell us about the inspiration behind it?
With Fiorelli it’s all about making the ordinary extraordinary. This season we focused on using subtle details and twists on classic designs, alongside bold graphic patterns and open metal work – our aim was to achieve decadent yet understated, but with a few more urban influences and injections of gold across the range. We also couldn’t forget about that all important feminine edge! This was accomplished through our inspiration from the beautiful formation of crystal shards, resulting in smoky and muted gemstones in vintage shapes, rather than over exposed glitz.
Describe your designs in three words
Diverse, wearable and trend-led
The new collection draws upon a few cultural influences, set to be big trends. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
The USA from coast to coast , I have been to New York and Florida but just the total range would be amazing – New York, San Francisco and the Vineyards, Los Angeles, Grand Canyon and the deserts and then St Louis and Chicago!
What do you think makes Fiorelli Jewellery distinguishable from other accessory brands?
Being beautifully designed and finished is what sets Fiorelli Jewellery apart from others. We have one goal in mind – to create stylish and affordable jewellery with fine attention to detail, all within London’s jewellery capital, and for the quality of production to remain premium.
Which celebrity would you love to see wearing your designs?
Olivia Palermo would be exciting as she is a huge style icon.
What can we expect to see next from Fiorelli Jewellery?
We are exploring new jewellery techniques, using the latest innovation in plating, finishes and a wider variety of new materials.
