Trend: Monochrome Magic
If you like to keep things simple, then the monochrome trend is perfect for you!
A simple palette of black and white is timeless and classic, so it’s no wonder that it keeps making an appearance season after season. It’s also incredibly easy to wear, which is also a bonus!
Here we show you the top 3 ways to wear the monochrome trend (and we’ve picked out our favourite pieces too!)
1. Stripes
Stripes can be very flattering (yes, even horizontal stripes – you just need to know how to wear them correctly!)
We love the vertical white stripe on these Buffalo skinny trousers. Team them with some great monochrome shoes, such as these gorgeous ones by Laura Scott.
Finish your outfit with a classic white blouse. This is our favourite for this outfit; not only is in monochrome, it has a beaded trim so is a bit more special, and it replicates the vertical line on the trousers. Perfect!
2. Spots
Go for a classic approach and wear white spots on a black background, or give it a more modern twist and go for the other way round.
We love this jumper and skirt. Would you be brave enough to wear them together?!
If you do mix up your prints and team spots with stripes, these striped French Connection shoes are the perfect pair to complete the look.
3. Block Colour
If you want to tone the look down slightly, go for colour blocking. We love this dress as it is super slimming.
These trousers are by Laura Scott (a brand that is exclusive to us). We’d team them with a simple black top to let the trousers do the talking.
For those who just want a dash of colour blocking, this bag is the perfect choice.
4. Our Top 3 Picks
Finally, these are our top three monochrome items.
1. The block stripe prom dress has really caught our eye. It’s such a flattering shape and will see us through all seasons; simply add black tights and a black cardigan if it’s a bit chilly.
2. The Laura Scott stripe jacket is a real stand out piece. It would look great with black skinny jeans and a pair of killer heels.
3. This dress by Laura Scott is just adorable. It has removable straps, and is also available in a stripe version (or plain black or plain white for those who want to play it a bit safer)
So what about you? Which monochrome look do you like the best? Stripes, spots or colour blocking?
